We love it when we come across brands that have travelled a similar path to us, with a passion for pure goodness. As such when Dusty Girls popped up on our radar we were excited… this brand of natural cosmetics has been created through their desire for something better, something cleaner.

We were excited to discover Dusty Girls. There is an abundance of cosmetic brands on the market, however many make seriously questionable claims. So, what is mineral makeup, exactly?
Mineral Makeup is created by blending and grinding a combination of loose minerals and pigments from the earth such as Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide (food grade), Mica and Iron Oxides. These ingredients together create a lightweight, buildable, gentle formulation for a luminescent, natural-looking coverage.
Mineral Makeup doesn’t just come in the form of a powder; it includes everything from lipstick to liquid foundation! Just remember to pay close attention to the ingredients to ensure your product contains quality, natural ingredients rather than synthetic chemicals, chemicals preservatives and cheap fillers.
What are the benefits of using mineral makeup?

Dusty Girls tips for selecting makeup
Check the ingredients! Knowledge is power, and when it comes to choosing healthy, effective products for your skin, it is essential! While a lot of companies are claiming to be ‘natural’ or ‘mineral’, they contain synthetic chemicals and cheap fillers like Talc. Bismuth and others of the like which will not encourage a healthy skin, and could do the exact opposite!
Keep a close eye out for makeup that contains Mica and Iron Oxides for coverage and colour, rather than synthetic, coal tar dyes and lake colours- these can be toxic to our bodies.
A few ingredients we don't believe belong in cosmetics:
- Talc
- Bismuth
- Silicone (anything ending in cone, really)
- Coal-Tar and Lake Dyes
- Formaldehyde Donors
- Phenoxyethanol
- Parabens
Many women with mature skin prefer not to use powders as it often accentuates fine lines or wrinkles, however, this is not the work of the mineral powder, but from Talc (a common ingredient used in many mineral powders). We do not use Talc as it does not align with our ingredient philosophy, now would we not want our products to perform for all ages.

Anyone and everyone! We formulate our products so that they are suitable for all ages and skin types. It is important to care for the skin at every age, the younger you start the better, however it is never too late to take back your skin health.
